so i'm taking moral studies (don't ask). it sounds better and the jokes are not as bad as saying i'm taking religious studies. because after all i've gone through and did this past couple of years; i am the last person you need in a religious class right now. not that i am into satanism (i am not regardless of the post i wrote) or i am anti-faith what so ever. i have faith. and what i do is between god and i. so anyway i think the whole idea of taking a morality class is really bullshit and i whole-heartedly pity the non-muslims who had to endure it for 11 years of their lives.
i think this moral class is more on language than actual morality. i mean we basically need to jumble up words to create a new sentence with the existing sentence. and how does this improve any of our current morals? tell me please. does that mean before i take drugs, i'm jumbling these words of values in my head to create a sentence to make me feel all remorseful and ultimately stop? i'd rather shoot crack into my eyeballs thanks.
the statements in the notes are so religion and politically biased and oh-god so black&white. i believe one's morals are grey matter with no exact wrongness or rightness. for example it states that abortion is a bad thing. okay there's that whole debacle on that topic so i'm not going to go through the pro's and cons of THAT situation because you can do that online. but to what extend is it bad? it does not state the other variables which comes into play. sure its easy to pin point the good and bad on paper; but if you're in a current situation all that stuff you've learned will be nothing but ass wipes when you get diarrhea.
i'm just saying moral studies should teach society the real deal and harsh realities of life and not fable statements concocted by people who probably stays at home with 10 cats, has a relatively routine life with no spontaneity and a stagnant relationship.
i strongly believe morals should be taught through experiences to have that full effect on an individual. the good and bad should be experienced without pushing away and completely disregarding the bad stuff. only then we are capable in actually knowing our own stance on the said matter without sounding like a total bullshitter. would you rather believe a person who READ that drugs/alcohol/pre-marital sex/etc are bad or someone who's experienced the real deal. which story would be rather interesting?
shielding society from the negativity won't make them any better either. i'm not saying society should encourage molestation or robbery; i'm saying that the society should not be too quick to discriminate those who does not fit perfectly in their morality manual. isn't the whole point of living is to live life to its highest potential? so why is it immoral to have sex with someone you really love before marriage as compared to to the "moral" way of marrying someone after marriage whom you probably don't really love as much? or how its okay if a husband were to force his wife to fuck him every night and its okay because they are married?
i think what we need is a class on principles. a self-discovery class where we figure out who we are. i'm saying not an actual class but we should have moments in a day/week/month/year where we re-evaluate who we really are and what we really want to achieve in life. once we determine these factors, i truly believe our current society would have really positive moral values. because the main reason in life when we screw up (kill, fail an exam, rape, vandalize, lie... you get the picture) is due to the fact that we do not know what we want and picture our own future. if a rapist were able to picture himself in the near future and figure out what he's actually getting from his actions in the long run; he would not commit such a crime. in other words, society should start looking at the bigger picture in their own life.
i just can't wait for my moral studies class to progress so that more interesting topics would come into play. its gonna be an interesting semester. and i pray to dear god (see, i do believe in god!) that she better damn well have a solid good answer when these issues come up.
society's morality are over rated
