emphasis on the scary bit

so perhaps this adrenaline search of the BEST horror movie has yet to end. the beginning of Saw was just the tip of the iceberg of what's to come. since we were still in school, Chibs & i were on a constant search of spine-tingling, gut-wrenching and scream-worthy movies to watch. trust me we've seen a lot with many if not all ending in disappointments. i've divided horror into 2; first would be the paranormal supernatural horror and the next would be gore & graphic violence. The jump start of Saw created somewhat a standard for such gore-violent movies with the brilliant concept and scenarios put into play. after Saw no other gore movies can ever take it's place. some may not agree because yes, there are gorier and maybe much more violent scenes taken place in other B-grade movies. however i prefer it better to watch people who deserves to die rather than the innocent ones. if you like it the other way around, WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU? unlike other movies, the victim in Saw actually DESERVES to die with probably that exception where theevilbitchtookoverandstartkillingwithouttherules. making these people die gives an added satisfaction in the movie because it actually makes you cheer for them to die just so you get to see how the contraption actually works (or maybe its just me). so yes, if you were suggesting Hostel, The Hills Have Eyes, Wrong Turn.. bla bla bla... been there done THAT.
next would be the paranormal element in horror. as a kid i remembered renting the VHS with Chibs and watching The Exorcist in the evening with us giggling almost abnormally at the screen. i enjoyed the scene with her crawling down the stairs. absolutely brills! after that we realized that no standard of horror can actually satisfy us especially after finding out that The Exorcist was rated to be the BEST horror move EVER. really? pfffft!
the discovery of Shutter was probably the best damn thing anyone could hope for. and mind you i meant the THAI version. the realization that a lower budget ASIAN horror could do wonders as compared to hollywood bullshit, made us despise american-made horror movies. even Phobia 2 was somewhat creatively scarier even though on most parts it was funny. no offense to american-horror maniacs out there who wets their bed at night after watching Paranormal Activity or Amityville, the stereotype of characters in these movies are eye-rolling worthy and down-right predictable.
here's a comparison between ASIAN characters & AMERICAN characters:

ASIANS:
when they hear weird sounds or start seeing weird things, the first thing they do is GET THE FUCK OUT OF THERE.

AMERICANS:
"hello. anybody there? hello?! stop it, it's not a joke alright..."
*silence*
.
.
.
.
.
.
"AHHHHHHHH!!!!"
.
.
.
.
.
*dies*

it is no wonder there are more ASIANS living on this planet. our survival skills are brilliant.

based on my personal observation, Hollywood movies when it comes to paranormal horrors suck camel balls because it is not their culture to have such things. their belief systems are more logical rather than supernatural. thus why perhaps i find Asian horrors more appealing. their cultures and beliefs are closer to home with the perception that maybe they can happen to me.

so in conclusion are there any reaaaaaaaaally good horror movies left for me to devour without hysterically laughing due to the stupidity & fakeness of the characters? please drop me a line if you can think of a few.

this fit has to come out sooner or later. maybe not so much of a bitch fit but more towards a disappointed fit which exceeds the feeling of confusion and possible sadness. it came to my knowledge that you out of all people i kinda respected, including people who looks up upon you almost god-like; has this other alternate life created for your own sick and twisted purposes. why you had to do it nobody knows but probably yourself. does it have to do with insecurities or this is just a facade you want people to know you for? when i look at you now, i no longer know if that trust i carefully build can exist anymore. the million conversations are diminishing their truth and beliefs that i'm now denying that any of those things ever happened. maybe we do have our moments when we feel like we need to belong some place or more specifically to some one rather than our parents and friends, but subjecting to creating an illusion of sex, popularity and possibility jealousy is almost sick and twisted. this world you created not-to-perfectly; and i say this because yes, i am admitting i may get a bit too nosy & i have an eye for coincidences and detail; is a bit unbelievable don't you think? it is not as though you live alone in a house like Lars and playing pretend with a blow-up mannequin. you have a life and the way i see it, it is better than most of us will ever have in a lifetime, and yet the act you're pulling seems to crash everything into debris. how will i ever act normally in front of you without rolling my eyes and doubting everything you say? sometimes i manage to piece little slips you've made that annoys the hell out of me. i don't confront you with this because i figured you have your own battles to fight; whatever it may be.
so the point of this is basically in letting you know that i am disappointed. especially after making a whole lot of fun knowing that not too long ago a common enemy made the same sad excuse to gain attention. and i'm sorry for being able to notice these things because no offense, your mistakes can be pointed out quite clearly once you start piecing the coincidences together.

rule of thumb: attention to detail, buddy. you got caught because you were sloppy ;)

i had a dream that i entered this old looking mall slash hotel. inside it was all dimly lit and probably has a wet smell. i remembered going through the place looking for an exit. but then i went up and down flights of stairs. one had those cockroaches on it. not the cockroaches you'll normally see but the ones with the hard exterior from the dinosaur ages. so it was there on the step and i went around it. but when i went across the stairs again, i didn't see it but i felt something HUGE crawling up my leg and it was under my jeans. so i had to try yanking it out and threw it down the stairs. and then i found Julia's room. she was on her doubledecker bed reading a book. she told me to go through the kitchen door to exit but while almost heading out, i saw my dad & he was asking me all sorts of questions and kept showing me his phone cause it has a picture of me. then Aunty Suzy calls me out asking me to go to lunch but it was a fancy lunch and i was suddenly wearing shorts so i didn't wanna go but my dad kept insisting for me to go. somehow then i ended up in the mall with Harith. and then suddenly he said he had to go hide somewhere so he runs off. i wanted to go look for him but then suddenly i saw Steffi and Nicola walking upstairs. i called them out and was a bit upset cause Steffi said she was only coming back in a few days but she lied. and lagi upset was when she was just like "Hi! okay take care of yourself..." and left. oh and then just as i was about to continue looking for Harith, Miriam called me out to help me look for presents for Ammar. she could not decide which teddy bear to get posing with which heart it's carrying. and in the midst of helping her, i was worried that Harith is missing, Steffi had forgotten about me and that i had a cockroach crawl up my leg earlier.

the reason while i'm wrote this down because my dreams never looked and felt so vivid in my life. excuse the sentence construction. had to write it in a hurry before all memories of it are lost in my head.

graphic morbidity

10:26 AM

dead whale exploded due to gas inside it's body in Taiwan. they were transporting this megafish when it exploded and it's innards were strewn all over the street along shops and vehicles nearby. National Geographic has a program just for this catastrophe sometime this week, for your information.

i dont know how it started but my fascination with graphic violence became almost a late-night habit of youtube videos and random google word searches (snuff, freak accidents, suicide). the thought of looking at pictures or blurry CCTV videos of freak accidents, murder homicide was somewhat intriguing and gave me an adrenaline rush. maybe i should go on explaining that I for once, by nature is nothing like the violent sort towards humanity. i love animals and had never thrown a fist towards anyone ever before. these thoughts of violence and morbid scenarios merely lingers in my head and my head only. i won't be planning any sinister torture any time soon. maybe i am actually fascinated by death itself as being a sudden stage in one's life. or maybe the way a person dies makes me understand it better. the more twisted form of dying bring me closer into the peeking glass. in real life, i would be freaked out by blood. even road accidents that happened in front of me scares me to oblivion despite ALWAYS taking a peek at the mess on the road. the blood, the bodies and the shards of glass and metal laying there makes me feel like dying is indeed a real unpredictable thing. i'll always remember the worst accidents i've seen in front of me; the twisted carcass and the trail of blood leading to one's death. thinking about it sends shivers even until now. despite this sick and twisted thought i just shared, i am never capable of looking at animals' carcass in the middle of the road. it sends me to a paranoid frenzy because it'll remind me of my pets. a couple of days back, the nation were shocked with the recent double-decker bus crash which claimed 10 lives. all the papers had the scene on their front page and really i was squinting and analyzing every detail of the picture for something gross. its a habit really for me to locate the pool of blood in crime scene and accident photos.
so there you have it... a peak inside my already messed up head.

what to (hopefully) expect in 2010

Thursday, December 31, 2009 1:38 PM

with the new year creeping in less than 10 hours, i've compiled a list of things i want to expect in the coming year. some may make no sense what-so-ever but you'll never know when they might actually happen. this year for example, we didn't think Michael Jackson will die nor will America elect a black president. so here's a list for i-told-you-so purposes in case it really happens and you know i was the first to come up with them.

1. Megan Fox sex tape: this shameless vixen is not shy that she's into sex. A LOT. as she has openly admitted to magazine interviews since she appeared in Transformers. so yes, a Megan Fox sex tape with preferably someone hotter than Brian Austin would be better. or some girl-on-girl action (read: lesbian tendencies surfacing)

2. Daniel Radcliffe coming out of the closet: not that i was ever a HUGE fan of this actor nor do i despite him to the highest degree, but he somewhat gives me a gay vibe since he first appeared. maybe its a British thing, but still... Harry Potter gay? now that would be cool. plus the parents' of HP fans' reaction would be almost priceless.

3. Religious themed movies: in 2008 up until 2009, most of the blockbuster movies revolved around the ideology of the ending and dying world with hidden environmental messages for us mankind to start saving the planet before we are all doomed to die tragically (The Day the Earth Stood Still, 20120, Avatar...). so i'm predicting there would be more religious themed movies to scare us with the impending doom. probably movies revolving more on the 7 deadly sins would be awesome or something more DaVinci-esque.

4. Dungarees would be in again: okay maybe it will look much more fashionable with better fits and colors. people are starting to wear those suspenders again with jeans, shorts and even skirts. so i don't see why dungarees isn't happening.

5. The Wham hair-do will be cool: okay so maybe i'm being a bit bias because i'm currently digging the hair. with my hair growing almost 10% there, i am lacking options to style it. thus the Wham-do. but you'll see, all the cool people will have it...

6. The big bang in the Indie & Electro scene: listening to MTV & Radio fed music will no longer be cool which would lead to many turning to podcasts and going for more gigs. which in time will bring radio and tv to start playing Noah & The Whale. then what? we will start dusting off our cassette players and start listening to A1, Spice Girls & Five again, thats what!

7. Nokia what? Samsung what?: everyone will either own Iphones or blackberries. the pandemic is starting now.

8. Alcohol pills: shots? yeah sure... lemme grab some water first. why bother with the messy liquid in crowded clubs where you can't hold a table long enough before people start bumping into you. and pity that guy who has to stay by the table keeping tabs on ALL the women handbags and to guard the drinks from desperate and snicky patrons. let everyone have fun; pop a few alcohol pills and you're good to go!

9. i'm not cheating, i'm just casually dating: with the abundance of males and females to choose from to have a good time, people are less willing to be tied down thus everyone will be casually dating everyone else with not much of an exclusivity.

10. nothing will surprise you anymore: the rise of violent crimes, drastic fashion trends, errectic weather forecasts, boys kissing boys, girls kissing girls, boys in high heels, bald girls, models coming up with albums, suicidal celebrities... its old news. what more can we ask for? i'm already expecting snow in my back yard in the middle of the hottest season of the year in KL. and i'm already expecting Miley Cyrus with a DUI & exiting her car without any panties on. so i think in 2010 we will be calmer people as we can easily shrug things off. or in all extreme-ends there would be those close-minded freaks who are ALWAYS there to spoil the fun. again, what IS new?

paranoid little android

Wednesday, October 14, 2009 8:15 AM

i don't know why little things make me all paranoid. what is scary is that i tend to jump into conclusions which usually end up nothing like it. this is bad because unlike everything else, this certain paranoid i have no right feeling because there isn't supposed to be one happening in the first place. complicated rambling much?
